Pre-departure

This blog will be about my year spent in Israel on the New Israel Fund Social Justice Fellowship. It's a clever pun as well. You have to say it out loud and also have a working knowledge of Zionist leaders for it to be funny.

Now...I know the following is very pre-departure, considering I am not leaving until late September or early October. However, since I have to pay for my flight from the States to Israel, I will need to earn a quick $2,000. I also would like a way to start paying off my student loans. And I don't have health insurance. Which leads me to...my part-time job search.

I am looking for work in the NY metro area as a barista, bartender, waitress, reporter, editor, proofreader. Basically I just need work. To that end I spent 5 hours today on craigslist and a bunch of hours yesterday. This is seriously the most promising gig I could find: http://newyork.craigslist.org/mnh/etc/361026853.html
